Uh...actually, yeah, some people with eating disorders share their secret with others just like them. I know people who talk about it plenty with "safe" friends.
That being said... I agree with 11:36 about using the word purge.
This is fake. Or She is a fake bulimic because it's "cool". I know recovered bulimics, they wouldn't say "to induce my bulimia", they would say "to purge". Not to mention, 1057 and 1121 are 100% correct. The ones with a real problem have about 0 -1 people for support. And they wouldn't brag to that person about something like this. God, this is all wrong. It gives people like my own recovered friends an even worse name.
Usually people with bulimia and anorexia keep their neuroses as secret as possible. So either she's a fake or this text is. Either way, she's a loser in need of help.
come on guys, have some respect. people with eating disorders often have serious psychological problems. every day i watch one of my good friends waste away from one. nothing i did could help her. how would you feel if you had an eating disorder and were constantly victimized?
i'm with 10:57. no real bulimic would brag over a text message. even if she had one person in on her secret, putting something into print where it could be found, or shared with others, is stupid.

As a bulimic, the guilt of eating encouraged my vomiting. I never shoved anything down my throat. The rollercoaster of emotions that led me to binge also subsequently led me to purge.
I don't think this is fake. How can anyone presume to know what word she'd use to describe the situation?
I have a couple friends who know about my eating disorder, so that's believable too.
Also my bullemia toothbrush is in the same drawer as my regular toothbrush, so it's not hard to find.
To all of you who think this is fake- ever think this was sent to someone who's really close to the person with bulimia? If it's a friend who supports them, then saying something like this isn't going to be a call for attention. And posting it up here doesn't mean shit 'cause everyone on this site is anonymous. If you can figure out who someone is from their area code, good luck! Anyway, stop insulting her. Bulimia is a condition that needs support, time, and help.

since this is totally anonymous, let me just say, i was meticulous about keeping my secret toothbrush clean. i soaked it in arm & hammer and sometimes listerine. she's probably not shoving a vomit-covered brush down her throat.
Spelling has nothing to do with whether this is fake or not. Just bc someone makes themselves throw up doesn't mean they spend the time googlomg the correct spelling of their disorder.

The fact that the people claiming to be bulimic are spelling it totally wrong, including the OP, are pretty much killing their own credibility. And if you're going to lie about it, you could at least take the time to pop open Google and run "bulimia" or any variation of your own through it and check to see if you're spelling it correctly.

@10:25 10:07 is obviously a 12 year old boy that had to google Bulimia before he could make fun of it. Secondly he may be confused with prom queen eating disorders IE attention grab taking the form of Ocasinal purging with actual bulimia a very serious disorder
Most bulimic wouldn't admit that they were especially in a text telling someone he used her gagging device. She probably isn't a true bulimic, but if she is I feel bad for her. Get help!!!!!!

I agree...no one would say "induce" and also people with eating disorders are very very sneaky...if there was such a toothbrush it would not be anywhere "he" would find it and be able to use it.
10:07...you obviously know nothing about bulimia. First of all it involves eating - lots of it. Many bulimics over-exercise as a way of "purging" so they don't gain weight from the binge. Many eating disorders arise b/c of psychological disorders, like bipolar or depression, or something horribly traumatic that happened to the individual. It really pisses me off when people who know NOTHING about what having an eating disorder is like say ppl w/ one "deserve to die." Some of them do, actually. Happy?
that's still just gross. I would freak if i learned i was brushing my teeth with a toothbrush someone used to make themselves puke. The act of it is just offensive- even if it is a disease of sorts.
