In fact, this is not illegal in Texas. I am a Texan; this is a right-to-work state, which means you can be fired without any notice for whatever fucking reason they want to pull out of their ass. As long as you can't PROVE they fired you for something that violates federal workplace laws.
Simple solution: offer the babysitter a higher salary to watch your kid than what your employer is paying her. She quits her job to sit for you, you get your job back, then you fire the sitter. Problem solved.
